Head Coach

Brad Ball is entering his 14th year as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Tomball High School where in addition to Basketball he will assist with Spring Tennis.  This will be his 25th year of coaching overall.  A graduate of The University of Kansas, Coach Ball has spent the majority of his career in Texas with stints at The University of Texas, The University of North Texas, Round Rock McNeil High School and THS.  He has also had stops at Garden City Community College and was the Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach at his alma mater, Atchison High School in Kansas.  Coach Ball has helped numerous players reach the next level academically and athletically.  Several, including Tomball's Jimmy Butler (Class of 2007) have played professionally.  Many of Ball's former assistant coaches have also excelled with four having become High School Principals or Assistant Principals and five moving on to a Head Coaching job.  Ball also boasts of several former players who have entered the coaching ranks at the high school, middle school or club basketball ranks.


As a player Coach Ball lettered three years and started on two state championship teams for Kansas Hall of Fame Coach Chic Downing at Atchison  High School.  He also lettered in football, tennis, track and cross country.  He began his college  career at Emporia State University playing basketball.  After transferring to The University of Kansas, Coach Ball played football for the Jayhawks. Following his graduation from KU with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Coach Ball attended The University of Texas at Austin earning a Master's Degree in Education specializing in Sports Management.  


Coach Ball has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and the Houston Area Basketball Coaches Association (HABCA).  He was selected to coach in the Tourney Sport USA Basketball Tournaments in Hawaii five times. Coach Ball has assisted with the try-out camps for the United States Basketball League's Dodge City Legend.  He has also served as a coach for a national junior college all-star event.  Coach Ball was named the 2008 District 13-5A Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to only their second district basketball title in school history.  Coach Ball has also spoken at the Texas High School Coaches Association Coaching School, at the TABC Clinic as well as several other clinics.  He has also been a guest speaker and instructor at numerous camps and clinics for players.


Coach Ball's wife Anne is a Tomball I.S.D. Content Specialist for Mathematics.  They are the parents of two children, a son Tanner and a daughter Avery.
