Welcome to the THS College & Career Center page!  My name is Emily Nichols, the College and Career Counselor for THS.  I have been in Tomball ISD since 2007, and began my career in education in 1999.  I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Fashion Merchandising, and a minor in Business.  In 2004 I received my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Sam Houston State University.
 
I am here to meet your students college and career needs.  Students are always welcome in Cougar Corner (College & Career Center).  Parents may simply contact me and schedule an appointment.  I work with all grade levels in different areas of college and career readiness throughout each year.  Many events will be held each year for students to learn more about post high school options, careers, financial aid, and much more.  Make sure you check out the many resources I have posted for you.  The Links section is organized by area of interest with many helpful links for students and parents.
 
I am the Dual Credit Coordinator for our campus.  You will find helpful information on Dual Credit for our campus. We partner with Lone Star College, Tomball.  Our LSC Dual Credit Advisor is Erica Clark.

Legacy Beauty Academy Open House - April 6th

Our very own cosmetology school in Tomball, Legacy Beauty Academy, is hosting an Open House event this Thursday, April 6th from 9 am to 9 pm.  
 
The Open House will feature free facials, discount on services, free food, and information about enrollment.  Legacy Beauty Academy also offers financial assistance to assist their students in pursuing their dream career.

The Houston Area Representatives Network (HARN) is coming to THS this Friday, March 24th.  Representatives from 11 universities will be in attendance and are looking forward to sharing information and answering questions.

TISD Service Cord - upcoming deadline for seniors

Seniors,
 
If you are submitting your community service hours for the TISD Service Cord, the deadline is April 1st.  Please make sure to enter your hours through x2VOL in Naviance.  
 
A copy of the TISD Service Cord Guidelines and instructions on how to enter the hours is located on the home page of this website in the gray box under the link TISD Service Cord Guidelines.
 
Those students who will be receiving the cord will be contacted mid-April.

Are you preparing for the SAT or ACT this spring?  These are two great opportunities to take FREE practice tests.  Please make sure to reserve your spot.
The City of Shenandoah is looking for volunteers to assist with their NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship they are hosting on March 15-18th at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.  Volunteers would be assisting with keeping up with swimmer's time, helping usher attendees, and multiple other opportunities.  VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE RECRUITED BY NCAA.  Please see the flyer for more details and contact information if this is something you would like to do.

Students who attend will be reviewing textbooks for our upcoming adoption for Spanish, French, and German courses. Below is the information for students to receive hours:

 

Students do not have to be enrolled in LOTE courses to participate. Students will use a rubric located on the survey to rate (from 1-5) the textbook publishers that they review. Students may rate the German, French, and/or Spanish textbook publishers, but they are not required to review all three languages. Surveys will be submitted through a Google form (https://goo.gl/mTczwJ) on the day of the event only for verification.

 

  • Earn 1 hour: Complete the survey for 2 different textbook publishers.
  • Earn 2 hours: Complete the survey for 4 different textbook publishers.
  • Students are welcome to ask the textbook publishers questions about their textbooks.
