Hello! My name is Brenda Bauske, and I am the German teacher at THS. I teach all of the German courses offered (German 1, German 2, German 2 Pre-AP, German 3 Pre-AP, and German 4 AP) and also act as the faculty advisor for the THS German Club and National German Honor Society chapter, Texas Theta Epsilon. I am also the Adjunct Professor of German at Lone Star College-Tomball. I have been an educator for 20 years and bring a passion for teaching to the classroom every day.

I am from Wisconsin and attended Ripon College there where I obtained a major in German and a minor in English. I spent my Junior year in college studying abroad in Bonn, Germany, at the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhlems Universität. I also have a master's degree in German Studies from the University of Northern Iowa; during my graduate school studies, I participated in UNI's Study Abroad Program in Klagenfurt, Austria, for six summers.

One of my greatest joys is travel. I have traveled extensively all over Europe. The German-speaking countries are my favorite destinations. I encourage all of my students to travel in their futures. I firmly believe in the value of travel for learning and personal development and subscribe to the messages in two of my favorite quotations: "travel is the best teacher" and "travel is an endless university." Since we can't board a plane and fly off to Europe together, I hope instead to provide a passport to learning and academic adventures for all of my students.

My love for all things German comes from my father, a native German who emigrated to the USA when he was in his 20s. I have relatives in Germany whom I visit often; truly, Germany is my second home.

Please use this site to check on homework assignments, assessments, projects, and helpful learning links for my classes. I also encourage you to review my guidelines, classroom expectations, and much more!
You may contact me through the following:
1) email:
2) call: (281) 357-3220 ext. 2258
3) conference period: 6th - 12:49 p.m. - 1:39 p.m.
Students are welcome to come to tutoring any day of the week after school from 2:40 p.m. to 3-15 p.m., but they should make a tutoring appointment with me beforehand to ensure my availability. I do especially encourage students to come to tutoring on Tuesdays/Thursdays if they need transportation home, because these are late bus days.

Student Volunteers for the Tomball German Festival

This weekend (Friday 6pm-10pm, Saturday 10am-10pm, Sunday 10am-6pm) is the Tomball German Heritage Festival in downtown Tomball. The THS German Club volunteers at this festival by running the information/lost and found table/tent and handing out programs to patrons as they arrive at the festival on the shuttle buses. This is an extra credit opportunity for students (extra points on the semester exam). Student volunteers should report to our table which is directly in front of the Tomball City Hall located at 401 Market Street (77375). I hope to see you there!
