In his coaching career, Coach Ramsey has assisted the development of players to the Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, and Cleveland Browns and to attend such schools as the University of Houston, the University of Arkansas, Lamar, the University of Nebraska, Abilene Christian University, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian, Steven F Austin State, Sam Houston State, Texas Lutheran, and Baylor Universities.
Danny Ramsey holds a Bachelor’s degree from McPherson College in Kansas and a Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision. Coach Ramsey was blessed to be mentored by such football greats as Chicago Bears Super Bowl Champion coach Steve Kazor, Wishbone inventor and former Mississippi State, A&M, and Texas National Champion coach Emory Bellard. Bellard was Ramsey high school head coach and Kazor led Ramsey at McPherson College in Kansas where Ramsey earned 3 All Conference letters.
Ramsey coached 6 All-conference players at McPherson College. Coach Ramsey moved around early in Texas High School Football until he became the offensive coordinator at Cypress Creek High School in 2004 where the cougar offenses averaged over 400 yards and 34 points a game for 5 seasons with the pinnacle coming in 2008 at a clip of 520 yards and 40 points a game. Prior to becoming Tomball’s head coach, Ramsey was the athletic coordinator at Waco High School. Being an advocate for all sports across the spectrum he helped improve all sports production including first time playoff trips from baseball, softball, and girl’s soccer.
You can often see the Ramsey’s in any number of Tomball ISD facilities as Coach Ramsey’s wife teaches at Tomball High School, while Ashley – 13 (TJHS), Grace – 11(TIS), and EmmyJo – 6(RES) and Dolan (DJ) – 3(1stBCT) are overjoyed to attend Tomball schools, and are ecstatic to call themselves Tomball Cougars!
