Welcome to the THS College & Career Center page!  My name is Emily Nichols, the College and Career Counselor for THS.  I have been in Tomball ISD since 2007, and began my career in education in 1999.  I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Fashion Merchandising, and a minor in Business.  In 2004 I received my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Sam Houston State University.
I am here to meet your students college and career needs.  Students are always welcome in Cougar Corner (College & Career Center).  Parents may simply contact me and schedule an appointment.  I work with all grade levels in different areas of college and career readiness throughout each year.  Many events will be held each year for students to learn more about post high school options, careers, financial aid, and much more.  Make sure you check out the many resources I have posted for you.  The Links section is organized by area of interest with many helpful links for students and parents.
I am the Dual Credit Coordinator for our campus.  You will find helpful information on Dual Credit for our campus. We partner with Lone Star College, Tomball.  Our LSC Dual Credit Advisor is Erica Clark.

Need money to pay for college?

Come learn about the NROTC scholarships from our own Marines representatives on Thursday, October 11th during both Cougar Blocks in the Cougar Corner.   NROTC scholarships offer a free education, amazing training, benefits, lifelong friends, and the list goes on.

No sign up required, just sign in when you get there!  Everyone welcome.

The ASVAB is offered each year on the THS campus.  The ASVAB is an amazing tool to help determine career areas that would be a good fit for you.  Students interested in entering the military after high school are encouraged to take the ASVAB.  Anyone can take the test however, without any military obligations.

It will be given during school hours on Thursday, November 1st.  Students in 10th through 12th grade are eligible to sign up.  (NJROTC students will sign up through their instructors).

Once you've taken the ASVAB, you'll have a year free subscription to an awesome career research portal.  Access codes will be on your score report.  A score review session will be held to explain your scores to you, and all of the tools you have access to. (Date TBA)

Myth:  If I take the ASVAB, the military recruiters will automatically start contacting me.

Fact:  No, they won't automatically start contacting you.  The ASVAB is used as a placement exam for military careers, so if you\'re interested in a career in the military, you would want to do really well on the exam.  Once you receive your scores you can reach out to a branch recruiter to review your options.

Myth:  You can't study for the ASVAB.

Fact:  Yes, you can absolutely study for the ASVAB!  Below are some helpful resources.

The sign up deadline is Friday, October 19th.
