Welcome to the THS College & Career Center page!  My name is Emily Nichols, the College and Career Counselor for THS.  I have been in Tomball ISD since 2007, and began my career in education in 1999.  I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Fashion Merchandising, and a minor in Business.  In 2004 I received my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Sam Houston State University.
I am here to meet your students college and career needs.  Students are always welcome in Cougar Corner (College & Career Center).  Parents may simply contact me and schedule an appointment.  I work with all grade levels in different areas of college and career readiness throughout each year.  Many events will be held each year for students to learn more about post high school options, careers, financial aid, and much more.  Make sure you check out the many resources I have posted for you.  The Links section is organized by area of interest with many helpful links for students and parents.
I am the Dual Credit Coordinator for our campus.  You will find helpful information on Dual Credit for our campus. We partner with Lone Star College, Tomball.  Our LSC Dual Credit Advisor is Erica Clark.

YWE offers students, parents and educators a jump start to college and career planning with its signature mentoring circle format and interactive sessions for all attendees.

YWE sessions include:

  • A discussion on the next generation of women advancing in energy
  • Ask the experts – engineers, scientists, technology professionals, lawyers, accountants, and more
  • Mapping your own career
  • Freshman/Sophomore students special session
  • Q&A session for parents, educators, and career & college counselors

YWE invites high school students, parents, and educators interested to register for the event using the online registration form.

Each year, WEN awards five high school seniors, $2,000 scholarships from the greater Houston area. The 2016-2017 WEN Scholarship Applications are now!


The awards for the 2016 – 2017 school year will be presented at the November 15, 2016 Young Women Energized (YWE) event held at Houston Baptist University. Please encourage any eligible high school young women you may know to apply!

16-17 Leadership High School - Opportunity for Juniors

Lone Star College offers a wonderful opportunity for juniors through a program called Leadership High School.  The program assists the students in leadership development as well as building community awareness programs.
Interested juniors should complete an application by September 23, 2016.  LSC will contact the selected students who have been chosen to participate in the program.  The program dates are listed on the flyer.

NEW    **Special session for SENIORS!!  30 minute session discussing the college application and writing a dynamic college admission essay.  Two identical sessions will be offered - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

When:  10 am and 2 pm (sessions are identical, you only need to attend one)


Project Grad Houston - Summer 2016


Project Grad Houston is an amazing summer opportunity for our current 9th-11th grade students.

During the summer program, students will explore exciting careers in applied technology, visit a college campus, learn to write a college essay, create a resume, and so much more.  Project Grad Houston is completely FREE!  Lunch will be served each day. 

Project Grad Houston will be held on the Lone Star College, Tomball Campus from July 5 - July 14, 2016 from 9:30 am to 3 pm.   Buses will be available from THS if needed.
