My name is Emily Nichols, the College and Career Counselor for THS.  I have been in Tomball ISD since 2007, and began my career in education in 1999.  I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Fashion Merchandising, and a minor in Business.  In 2004 I received my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Sam Houston State University.

College Board Opportunity Program
 
College Board Opportunity Scholarship program has a great support for students through the financial aid process, and you can earn scholarship money!  College Board has partnered with Benefits Data Trust, a national nonprofit, which connects students to Wyatt, a free chatbox that answers questions via text. Students can now sign up for Wyatt HERE.  For more information on Wyatt, you can watch an informational video HERE.  And don't forget about the scholarship!

3. Once you've submitted FAFSA, visit the My Action Plan page and confirm submission
4. If you're legally ineligible to complete the FAFSA, you can still qualify for the scholarship on the My Action Plan page

College Board Real Talk Event - Sept. 30th

Real Talk is designed to connect Black students and their families to colleges and access organizations across the country. We also encourage educators to attend! Every session is authentic, engaging, and, most of all, real.
 
Whether your students are just starting to think about college or planning to apply this year, Real Talk is the place to get their questions answered in real time by college admissions representatives and college planning advisers.

Leadership High School
Leadership High School by Lone Star College
 
Leadership High School program is offered by Lone Star College for high school sophomores and juniors to apply to be a part of. The program is a wonderful experience for students to grow their confidence in their leadership skills, learn problem-solving abilities, and connect with community leaders. Students must apply to the program and be accepted to participate. 
 
There is not cost to the program, and all sessions are held on a Lone Star College campus.

ASVAB
Not sure what you want to do in the future?
 
The ASVAB is the perfect assessment to help guide students toward potential career opportunities based on their strengths and interests. No, it's not just a military test, but one of the best aptitude tests on the market! The Career Exploration Program (CEP) is a wonderful tool that all ASVAB testers will have access to for a year after they complete the test. Students will be able to explore careers, majors, and even colleges. 
 
The ASVAB is a FREE test for any 10th, 11th or 12th grade students interested. There is absolutely no commitment to the military by taking the test. Interested students simply need to sign up at the link below!

ExCEL Event with Sam Houston State University

Exploring College Education and Life.

Our ExCEL events provide high school students, transfer students, and their guests an opportunity to experience College Education and Life at Sam Houston State University. These events include academic presentations specific to one of our 7 colleges. Guests will also receive a guided campus tour and will be able to visit with many of our student service departments including: Residence Life, Financial Aid, Admissions, Advising, and many others.

Students are responsible for their own registration and their own transportation to campus. Arrival and parking information will be provided closer to your event date.
